Talk of the Town

About

Talk of the Town will take over an empty shop in the town centre and create a space to explore and create together the future of Carrickfergus with residents.

They will hold small group  conversations of 6-10 people, testing different tools, such as Three Horizons Framework and Good Life Conversation, to examine the present and potential futures, while building community and relationships.

The project will make space for conversations to develop in response to what they are finding out, in ways that make sense to people. Their job will be to hold the space and pay attention to what people are saying about how they live in the town and how they would like to live in the town in the future. It will be an emergent space that is shaped by the people who take part.

Conversations will take place during the day, in the evening and at weekends to allow for people to take part in a way that works for them. They will also hold online spaces for those who cannot come into the shop and work with churches, community groups and businesses, and use social media to encourage people to take part.

The Positive Carrickfergus Facebook group has 4,500 members, the majority of whom live in Carrick.
