Barrow's New Constellation

About

This project will bring together local residents in Barrow-in-Furness to create a ‘constellation’ map of the area.

A constellation is a point of orientation, something to head towards once you have left shore but are not yet sure where you will land. Each constellation has its own story. In this case, Barrow’s story, told by the people of Barrow.

The project will  give Barrow a process to map, connect, nourish and illuminate the people, ideas and initiatives that, once connected together, tell the story of transformation and renewal. It will involve recording the stories of local people’s experiences and putting together audio fragments from the area to build a local narrative. As well as serving as a piece of community art in itself, this work will feed into and inform Barrow’s COVID-19 recovery strategy, pushing for a new economic vision to address issues raised in the narrative.
