Build Back Better: creating safe, inclusive spaces for women & marginalised groups

About

This project aims to redefine the way public spaces are used, making them safer and freer for women, non-binary people, differently abled people, people of colour and older people.

It is inspired by the UN Women global programme Safe Cities and Safe Public Spaces, which has had a tangible impact on many communities worldwide in making them safer and more accessible.

During COVID-19 this work has taken on new meaning and is more vital than ever. The project will involve a series of digital workshops between September and January, with 5,000 survivors and marginalised groups, using design and foresight principles to co-create a vision for UK public spaces, and to shape ideas about what needs to happen next.
